What Cafe?
The Wisdom of Crowds Certainly as there are nasty bosses there are nasty employees that just want to defame their bosses for personal reasons. But isn't that just like democracy? People are largely good, and rational. Otherwise democracy won't work, Ebay, YouTube and Digg can't sustain. Just to relate a quick story from the book, The Wisdom of Crowds, here's what happened when a group of non-experts. went head to head with a smaller group of so-called experts. This story was extrapolated from the accounts of Franics Galton, a 19th century economist and anthropologist: At one of England's many fairs, he noticed a wagering competition in which people had to guess on the weight of an ox. Eight hundred people wrote their guesses on slips of paper; some were butchers and farmers, while others were casual guessers. Averaging the estimates, Galton expected the result to be nowhere near the mark, because so few of the guessers were professionals in the meat business. To his surprise, however, the crowd had come within one pound of the ox's weight. The group as a whole had guessed that the ox would weigh 1,197 pounds, and the ox's actual weight was 1,198 pounds. The average of these collective guesses was more accurate than the few experts who were polled. Are my ratings and blogs anonymous on this site?
Absolutely. The site doesn't even track who you are or where you are from. All user data, if input voluntarily, is encrypted and protected that even the database administrator cannot see it. But if one wants to cast votes on a person/company repetitively, the site will slow one down as a throttling mechanism. So unless one absolutely has nothing else better to do, which is very very unlikely for any worker bee, the voting should be reasonably accurate to reflect the truth. Why sometimes my ratings and recommendations weigh heavier but sometimes they are not. The site weighs your ratings higher if you login first or provide proof that you worked for the companies and people you rate. Your rating weights increase after the verification is complete. We can verify by your: What if someone posts abusive personal attacks Spams and abusive words are not tolerated on this site. We will take them down as soon as we can. If some statements are false or company secrets, report it and tell us why it is false or secret. The site operator will arbitrate. If a claim is accepted, the reported posting will be removed as soon as possible.
